Isese worshippers pray for Osun, seek divine guidance in 2026

Traditional worshippers in Osun State on Tuesday held a special Isese prayer session to usher in the New Year 2026, praying for peace, stability and sustained development in the state.

The prayer session, held in Osogbo, attracted adherents of indigenous faiths from across the state, with Governor Ademola Adeleke assuring them of his administration’s continued respect for all religions and support for traditional institutions.

Addressing the gathering, Adeleke said he was delighted to identify with traditional worshippers, apologising for his absence at previous Isese prayer sessions while reaffirming his regard for people of all faiths, including adherents of indigenous spirituality.

The governor acknowledged the spiritual support and prayers of traditional worshippers, noting that despite his past non-attendance, the state government was always represented at such gatherings.

He attributed the achievements recorded by his administration in key sectors to divine guidance and inter-faith prayers, stressing that Osun would overcome its challenges through unity and reliance on Olodumare.

Adeleke assured that his government would not relent in delivering people-oriented governance, vowing to resist forces of oppression and underdevelopment. He added that the state was firmly positioned on the path of progress and prosperity.

The governor urged traditional worshippers to continue praying for leaders and the success of government, expressing confidence that efforts by detractors to derail the state’s progress had been spiritually neutralised.

He further disclosed that he had directed the Commissioner for Home Affairs and his Special Adviser on Traditional Matters to engage the Isese community to identify areas of need, in recognition of their contributions to the state’s development.

Speaking on behalf of the worshippers, President of the Traditional Worshippers Association of Osun State (TWARZO), Dr. Oluseyi Atanda, thanked the governor for recognising indigenous traditions and promoting religious tolerance in the state.

Dr. Atanda said traditional worshippers play critical roles in fostering peace, unity and communal harmony, stressing that adherents of indigenous faiths contribute meaningfully to community development.

He assured that traditional institutions would continue to pray for peace, stability and good governance in Osun.

At the end of the session, TWARZO pledged continued support for Adeleke’s administration, assuring that traditional worshippers would sustain prayers for the success of his leadership and the overall progress of Osun State through 2030.
