A former senator and diplomat, Abdallah Wali, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), ending over 25 years of association with the party.
Wali announced his decision in a resignation letter dated December 31, 2025, addressed to the PDP ward chairman of Sanyinna Ward, Tambuwal Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
In the letter, he stated that his resignation takes immediate effect, withdrawing from the party and all its organs.
“I hereby resign my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party, including all organs of the party in which I am a member. This resignation takes immediate effect,” he wrote.
The former lawmaker expressed appreciation to the PDP for giving him the opportunity to serve both the party and the nation in various capacities over the years.
He also thanked his supporters for their unwavering loyalty and support for more than two decades, describing their contributions as invaluable to his political journey.
Copies of the resignation letter were forwarded to the PDP chairman in Tambuwal LGA as well as the party’s state chairman in Sokoto.
As at the time of filing this report, Wali has not disclosed his next political move, fueling speculation amid the ongoing crisis within the PDP.
His exit comes days after former Senator Gilbert Nnaji, a one-time chairman of the Senate Committee on Communications, also resigned from the PDP after 27 years, citing disappointment with the party’s direction and unfulfilled national aspirations.
The development adds to growing concerns over internal divisions and defections rocking the opposition party ahead of future electoral contests.
