Kwara Police Intensify Security Ahead of Christmas Celebrations

As Christmas festivities draw near, the Kwara State Police Command has intensified security measures across the state to safeguard lives and property.

Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adekimi Ojo, has directed the proactive deployment of personnel in strategic locations, signaling the command’s readiness to maintain public safety during the yuletide period.

In a statement on Wednesday, the state police spokesperson, SP Adetoun Ejire Adeyemi, said the deployment aligns with the Nigeria Police Force’s nationwide security strategy as outlined by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.

According to SP Adeyemi, “Visibility policing, intelligence-led patrols, and targeted operations have been intensified across places of worship, markets, recreational centres, motor parks, highways, and other public spaces. Tactical and specialised units are on heightened alert, conducting sustained surveillance and raids in identified black spots and flashpoints.”

The police spokesperson further urged officers to remain professional, firm, and courteous in the execution of their duties.

Members of the public were also advised to stay vigilant, celebrate responsibly, and report any suspicious activities promptly to the nearest police station or via the command’s control room numbers: 07032069501 and 08125275046.
