Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has ordered the immediate suspension of four of his aides following allegations of assault against a serving councillor.

The directive came after investigations into the attack on Abdulrahman Abubakar Sheriff, the councillor representing Shamaki Ward in Gombe Local Government Area, were concluded.

In a statement, the governor’s spokesperson, Ismaila Uba Misilli, said the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, communicated the governor’s decision after a special committee submitted its findings. The committee’s report, which included inputs from security agencies, reportedly formed the basis for the action.

Those affected by the suspension are:

Adamu Abdullahi Danko, Senior Special Assistant II (Domestic)

Garba Mohammed Mai Rago, Senior Special Assistant II (Political)

Rabiu Sulaiman Abubakar, Senior Special Assistant II (Social Media)

Ali Ibrahim Baban Kaya, Senior Special Assistant II (Community Relations)

Governor Yahaya directed that the aides return all government-owned items in their possession to the appropriate authorities.

Misilli added that the governor reiterated his administration’s zero-tolerance stance on violence, misconduct, and abuse of public office, warning that such acts would not be condoned under any circumstance.
