Former Secretary-General of Afenifere, Ayo Opadokun, has attributed the persistent insecurity in Nigeria to individuals deliberately seeking to undermine the current administration.

Speaking on Sunday shortly after his installation as Grand Patron of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Offa Local Government, Opadokun said terrorism, banditry, and other criminal activities, particularly in the northern region, are not accidental.

He claimed that these acts are part of a well-orchestrated plan by sponsors with diverse interests aimed at destabilising the country.

“Some Nigerians, including agents determined to weaken the government, made strategic decisions long ago. The current situation is not accidental; it is planned,” he said.

Opadokun urged the Federal Government to intensify efforts in combating terrorism, prosecute the perpetrators, and eliminate any doubts regarding its commitment to securing the nation.
