Enugu Govt Dismisses Rumours of Ceding Border Community to Kogi

Enugu State Government has dismissed online reports claiming that Ette, a border community in Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area, has been ceded to Kogi State.
The Secretary to the Enugu State Boundary Committee, Dr. Solomon Ejim, clarified on Friday that the National Boundary Commission (NBC) has not published any report or decision on the long-standing interstate boundary dispute.
Dr. Ejim said, “The attention of the Enugu State government has been drawn to a fake and misleading online report suggesting that the NBC has made a decision ceding Ette community to Kogi State. The report is entirely false.”
He added that the government reached out to the NBC Director-General, who also debunked the report, describing it as “outrightly false and not emanating from the Commission.”
The state government urged residents of Igbo-Eze North LGA and Enugu State at large to disregard the fake news and go about their normal activities.
“The people are enjoined not to entertain any form of anxiety. No such resolution has been reached by the commission,” the statement said.
The clarification comes amid growing concerns over misinformation on social media regarding interstate boundary issues.
