Atiku Rallies ADC State Leaders, Says Time for ‘Collective Rescue’ Has Come

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar yesterday held a strategic meeting with chairmen of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory at his Abuja residence.

Atiku, who recently registered as a member of the ADC, disclosed details of the visit in a post on his official X handle on Tuesday.

The delegation, led by Kogi ADC Chairman Ogga Kingsley, said they came to formally receive the former PDP presidential candidate into the party, describing him as a “bona fide member whose entry strengthens the coalition.”

Atiku expressed satisfaction with his formal integration into the party, insisting that there was no time to waste in what he termed a “collective rescue mission” for Nigeria. He urged all members across the coalition to complete their registration, warning that “no one can afford to sit on the fence.”

He praised the ADC leadership nationwide for their commitment to Nigeria’s future, noting that they shared a common objective of building a secure and prosperous country.

“I am pleased to see leaders of the party at the state level thinking beyond today. Together, we are committed to building a secure, united and prosperous Nigeria,” he said.

The former VP accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of “bending the nation towards ruin,” adding that the ADC and its partners were prepared to stop the downward slide.

Atiku had earlier declared that “the real opposition has begun” after receiving his membership card at Jada 1 Ward in Adamawa State — his first public political move since resigning from the PDP.

He urged his supporters nationwide to join the ADC immediately and align with what he described as “a new political front with a clear sense of direction.”

Atiku resigned from the PDP in July, lamenting that the party had drifted from its founding ideals. He described the decision as “heartbreaking,” stating that internal conflicts had become irreconcilable.
