NYSC Warns Corps Members Against Indiscipline, Misuse of Social Media

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has cautioned Corps members across the country against the misuse of social media platforms, stressing that unwholesome online behaviour will attract sanctions.

Director-General of the Scheme, Brig.-Gen. Olakunle Nafiu, gave the warning while addressing members of the 2025 Batch ‘C’ at the Delta State Orientation Camp in Issele-Uku.

Nafiu said the Scheme would not tolerate posts capable of misrepresenting the NYSC or tarnishing the image of the country. He urged the Corps members to channel their creativity towards promoting positive narratives about Nigeria and the Scheme.

He further advised them to avoid unauthorised movements, adhere strictly to camp and service rules, and participate fully in all mandatory programmes, including biometrics and Community Development Service (CDS).

“Follow simple instructions, stay disciplined, and respect the cultural values of your host communities,” the DG said. “Do not misrepresent the Scheme at your places of primary assignment.”

Earlier, Delta State NYSC Coordinator, John Kwaghe, presented a situation report to the DG, disclosing that a total of 2,101 Corps members—944 males and 1,157 females—were deployed to the state for the new batch.

He noted that camp activities had progressed smoothly, with officials and Corps members demonstrating a commendable level of discipline.
