Harvard Polytechnic Seeks Enhanced Security Collaboration in Visit to Kwara Police Command

The management of Harvard Polytechnic, Ilorin, on Monday, November 24, 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the Kwara State Police Command, engaging in strategic talks with the Commissioner of Police, CP Ojo Adekimi, on bolstering security within the institution and its surrounding community.

Led by the Rector, Dr. Obasanjo Ajibade, the delegation comprised the Registrar, Mr. Imole Jeary Joe; the Bursar, Mrs. Ajibade Taye Esther; and the Chief Security Officer, Mr. Olaniyi Christopher Gboyega.

During the engagement, the team applauded the Commissioner for his recent strides in crime prevention, particularly the successful rescue of abducted victims across the state. They described his security interventions as timely and reassuring for academic institutions and residents alike.

Dr. Ajibade noted that the visit was driven by the Polytechnic’s resolve to protect its students and staff, especially in the Agbabiaka area where the institution is located. He underscored the need for sustained collaboration with the police to ensure a secure learning environment.

Responding, CP Adekimi reiterated that Ilorin metropolis — including Agbabiaka — remains safe and is not listed among vulnerable zones in the state. He restated the Command’s commitment to maintaining peace and urged the institution to formally outline its plan for integrating police personnel into its internal security framework to guarantee swift intervention when necessary.

The Polytechnic management described the meeting as “fruitful and encouraging,” expressing appreciation for the Commissioner’s assurances.

They also extended a formal invitation to CP Adekimi to deliver the Guest Lecture at the institution’s forthcoming Matriculation Ceremony scheduled for February 2026.
