Kwara Church Holds Service, Prays for Release of Kidnapped Worshippers

Worshippers at the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Oke Isegun, Eruku, in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, on Sunday gathered in solemn prayer for the safe return of members abducted during last week’s deadly attack on the church.
The service, described as calm but emotional, was led by the church’s senior pastor, who urged congregants to remain steadfast in faith as security agencies intensify efforts to rescue the victims.
Gunmen had on November 18 invaded the church during a programme, killing several worshippers and whisking away others, including the pastor. The assault triggered widespread concern across the state and prompted an immediate security response from the authorities.
The Kwara State Government, under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has since deployed additional security assets to the area. Combined operatives of the Nigerian Army, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Police tactical units and local vigilantes are said to be combing surrounding forests in search of the abducted victims.
Residents expressed cautious optimism that the enhanced security presence would help restore confidence and prevent further attacks.
Authorities have urged the public to remain calm and cooperate with security operatives as investigations continue.
