Police Yet to Confirm Alleged Attack on Church in Kwara

The Kwara State Police Command has said it is not aware of any attack, abduction, or killings at a church in Eruku, a boundary town in the Ekiti Local Government Area of the state.

The clarification comes amid a video circulating on social media in which an unidentified man claimed that gunmen attacked the town while he and other passengers were traveling from Niger State to Kwara. According to the man, the incident occurred on November 18, 2025, near Eruku, which borders Egbe in Kogi State.

In the video, the man described the chaos, saying, “Jesus Christ, this is November 18, 2025. On my way back from Federal Polytechnic Bida, Niger State, approaching Ilorin, we were attacked. They are shooting currently, and everyone has to vacate the town. We (passengers) hid in the bush.”

He appealed for urgent intervention from security agencies: “Police, Vigilante, we are in trouble. Please come to our rescue. Everyone is running helter-skelter; the armed men are in the town. Our location is in Kogi State currently, please come to our rescue.”

A report by Sahara Reporters alleged that three members of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) were killed and several others, including the pastor, abducted during the attack. The report claimed the attackers stormed the church during a meeting, opening fire and forcing worshippers to flee.

When contacted, Kwara State Police spokesperson, SP Ejiri Adetoun, told Patriotic Insights News that the command had no information on the alleged incident. She said she had not received any briefing and would confirm with the Divisional Police Officer in the area before providing updates.

As of the time of filing this report, no official confirmation had been received from the police regarding the alleged attack.
