Osun APC Blasts Adeleke Over ADC Overtures, Warns Voters Ahead of 2026

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned Governor Ademola Adeleke for allegedly seeking support from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) leadership in the state, led by former Governor Rauf Aregbesola, in a bid to secure the 2026 governorship ticket.

In a statement signed by the Chairman of the party, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, the APC accused Adeleke of “begging, fraternizing, and hobnobbing” with Aregbesola, despite previously attacking the former governor in public. The party described Adeleke’s move as “a display of desperation and lack of honour,” warning that no collusion could shield him from defeat in the next election.

The statement recalled that Adeleke had, in July 2025, described Aregbesola as a “pension eater” and criticized his administration for leaving the state in debt, with incomplete projects and underpaid workers. “It is strange that Adeleke now sees Aregbesola as his political messiah, given his recent verbal attacks,” the APC said.

The party also accused Adeleke of betraying political allies, citing his alleged actions against Rt. Hon. Adejare Bello in 2018 and other prominent politicians. According to the APC, such betrayals have undermined public trust and should serve as a warning to voters in Osun State.

On governance, the APC highlighted what it called “failures” of Adeleke’s administration, including high tuition fees in state institutions, mass layoffs of teachers, and unfulfilled promises to create jobs and improve living standards. The statement argued that Adeleke’s administration, despite generating over N1 trillion in revenue in 35 months, has failed to deliver meaningful development.

“The people of Osun should reject Adeleke at the poll for betraying their mandate,” the party said, urging voters to view the alleged alliance with Aregbesola as a threat to the state’s future.

The APC concluded by reminding citizens that Adeleke had previously urged voters to punish Aregbesola and the ADC for past mismanagement, and now, by seeking their support, he is asking the electorate to overlook his past criticisms.
