Wike-Led PDP Faction Suspends National Convention in Ibadan

A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) loyal to Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has announced the suspension of the party’s planned national convention, earlier scheduled for November 15–16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The declaration was made on Wednesday by the factional national chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed, who was appointed by the Wike-led group.

Mohammed said the decision follows the November 1, 2025, ruling by Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja, which restrained the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from acting on any process related to the convention.

The court order effectively halted preparations for the exercise, deepening the ongoing leadership crisis within the PDP.

Efforts to reconcile the factions have continued, with the party’s Board of Trustees calling for dialogue, but tensions remain high as both camps assert their authority.

Further details on the party’s next steps are expected in the coming days.
