Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has called on Nigerians, particularly voters in Anambra State, to use the forthcoming governorship election as a test of the credibility of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) under the leadership of Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN.
In a statement on Sunday, Atiku described the November 8 election as a “unique opportunity” for INEC to demonstrate that it has “turned a new page” in conducting free, fair, and credible elections. He emphasized that the integrity of Nigeria’s polls should not be compromised to favor the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
“At stake is more than the election of a governor; it is the chance to end decades of poor governance in Anambra State,” Atiku said. “This is also an opportunity for the electoral umpire, under Prof. Joash Amupitan, to show the world that the integrity of our elections will not be sacrificed for political interests.”
The former vice-president urged every registered voter in Anambra to not only participate in the election but also support the candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), stressing the party’s potential to bring lasting peace, prosperity, and stability to the state.
Atiku specifically called on ADC members to rally behind Nwosu John and his running mate, Nwobu Ndubisi, urging them to lead Anambra into a “new era of economic growth and development.”
