Timi Frank Slams African Elections, Warns of Democratic Collapse

Political activist and former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Timi Frank, has condemned recent elections in Tanzania, Cameroon, and Ivory Coast, describing them as “sham exercises” and a “disgrace to Africa.”

In a statement on Thursday, Frank alleged that the polls in the three countries were not genuine elections but “selections” marred by manipulation, intimidation, and political violence. He accused incumbent leaders of imposing themselves on their people through fraudulent practices rather than respecting the will of the electorate.

“These elections are a disgrace and shame to Africa. In the 21st century, the continent should be advancing democracy, but instead we witness increasing rigging, oppression, and political violence,” Frank said.

He called on the international community—including the United Nations, the United States, and the European Union—to withhold recognition of the results and take “decisive measures to rescue democracy in Africa.” He warned that continued electoral malpractice could fuel civil unrest and trigger coups across the continent.

Frank also urged the U.S. and EU to impose targeted sanctions on African leaders and their allies who undermine democratic processes.

Turning attention to Nigeria, Frank cautioned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies ahead of the 2027 general elections, stressing that the polls must not replicate the flawed patterns seen elsewhere in Africa.

“Nigeria’s 2027 elections must not be business as usual. Any attempt to subvert the people’s will will be strongly resisted. Nigerians will no longer remain silent,” he warned.

Patriotic Insights News reports that the disputed elections in Tanzania, Cameroon, and Ivory Coast have triggered political crises in the three nations.
