The leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, Reuben Fasoranti, has urged political leaders in the Southwest to focus on delivering results rather than competing over party labels.
Speaking at the two-day Southwest Stakeholders’ Dialogue in Akure, Ondo State, on Wednesday, Fasoranti, represented by former Afenifere Secretary-General, Femi Okurounmu, stressed that ministers and political office holders must rise above party interests.
He called on them to ensure the equitable distribution of federal projects and resources across the region. “Our ministers must never forget that they are not merely cabinet officials; they are the voices of a people whose aspirations must be fiercely defended,” Fasoranti said.
He urged ministers to collaborate with governors, irrespective of party affiliation, and to ensure federal projects and policies benefit the Southwest fairly. Fasoranti also encouraged governors in the region to pursue interstate collaboration for sustainable regional development.
