Kaduna ADC sacks deputy chair, 8 others over alleged sabotage

The Kaduna State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expelled its Deputy Chairman, Ahmed Tijani Mustapha, alongside eight other senior executives over alleged gross misconduct and attempts to sabotage the party’s structure.

The decision, which party insiders described as a move to “restore order”, was taken at an emergency session of the State Executive Committee (SEC) held in Kaduna on Wednesday.

Those axed include the State Publicity Secretary, Idris Musa; Vice Chairman (Zone 1), Sulaiman Abdullahi; Treasurer, Gambo Sani; Financial Secretary, Magaji Maiwada; and Legal Adviser, Danlami Dabai Musa. Others are the Coordinator for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), Saura Muhammad; Deputy Youth Leader, Ibrahim Muhammad; and one Mansur Gaga.

In the SEC’s communiqué, the removed officers were accused of holding clandestine meetings to topple the leadership, forging party documents and extorting members—infractions said to violate the ADC constitution.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Kaduna ADC Chairman, Elder Patrick Ambut, said the party would not condone acts capable of tearing down its internal structure.

“We remain committed to discipline, transparency and the rule of law. No member, regardless of status, is above the constitution of the ADC,” Ambut said.

He accused Mustapha in particular of impersonation and abuse of office, noting that the Deputy Chairman had no constitutional authority to convene meetings or issue directives on behalf of the party.

Meanwhile, the SEC appointed the Deputy State Publicity Secretary, Alex Tagwai, as Acting Publicity Secretary pending a broader reorganisation of the state executive.

Ambut said the decision enjoyed the backing of local government chairmen and key stakeholders present at the session.

He urged party faithful to remain loyal, warning that fresh acts of indiscipline would attract similar sanctions.
