The Ayodele David-Adesua Campaign Organisation (ADACO) yesterday accused political rivals of sponsoring the burning of the newly-opened African Democratic Congress (ADC) secretariat in Ekiti State.
The facility, which was inaugurated recently as part of the opposition party’s build-up to the 2025 governorship poll, was reportedly set on fire in the dead of the night.
In a statement signed by its Director-General, Dr. Ayokunle Olusegun, the organisation described the incident as “a cowardly attack on democracy and the aspirations of Ekiti people for a new direction”.
“It is barbaric, desperate and politically-motivated. Those behind this act fear the rising support base of ADC and believe violence can slow us down. They are mistaken,” the statement said.
The campaign urged party faithful and supporters not to be discouraged, insisting that the arson should instead “rekindle resolve to confront corruption, oppression and bad governance with a united voice”.
“This is a defining moment. Unity is our greatest weapon. We will not be intimidated or distracted from our mandate to rescue, rebuild and rise Ekiti,” ADACO added.
Security agencies were yet to issue an official statement as of press time, but residents said the fire gutted property before neighbours could intervene.
The party maintained that its mobilisation for the election will continue as planned.
