Immigration: New Visa, Expatriate Quota Rules to Deepen Investment Climate — NIS

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has said that the ongoing overhaul of Nigeria’s visa regime and expatriate quota system will strengthen migration governance and make the country more attractive to investors.

The reforms were the focus of a stakeholder engagement session jointly organised by the NIS and the Federal Ministry of Interior at the CBN Centre for Excellence, Bayero University Kano.

NIS Public Relations Officer, ACI A. S. Akinlabi, in a statement yesterday, said the meeting drew representatives from the private sector, regulatory agencies and key government institutions in Kano State.

Assistant Comptroller-General in charge of Zone B, Sani Aliyu Ambursa, who declared the session open, restated the Service’s resolve to sustain open engagement and smooth rollout of immigration reforms.

Delivering the Comptroller-General’s remarks, Deputy Comptroller-General F. U. Nwaneka, who heads the Visa and Residence Directorate, described the new visa framework, expatriate quota reform and the Post-Amnesty Voluntary Return and Documentation Programme (PAVRDP) as strategic tools to tighten compliance and boost business confidence.

“These reforms are designed to strengthen migration management and enhance the ease of doing business in Nigeria. Compliance from the private sector will drive transparency, efficiency and investor trust,” she said.

Representing the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr Magdalene Ajani, the Director of Citizenship and Business, said the reforms reflect the ministry’s renewed push for improved service delivery and investment inflows.

The session featured technical briefings on the Nigeria Visa Policy 2025, the expatriate quota framework, the e-CERPAC and e-TWP application process, and the Post-Amnesty Programme, followed by an open discussion segment.

The NIS assured that it will sustain transparent, technology-driven processes to support national development while deepening collaboration with stakeholders.
