Jonathan Poses No Threat to Tinubu – Presidential Aide

Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, Senior Special Assistant on Print Media to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has dismissed speculations about former President Goodluck Jonathan’s potential political comeback, saying he does not pose any threat to the current administration.

In an interview in Kano, Abdulaziz noted that Jonathan’s loss while serving as president indicates he has little chance of political success if he decides to contest again.

“Someone who was defeated while holding the highest office has little leverage now. He may try his luck, and that is the beauty of democracy—anyone can contest,” he said.

The presidential aide added that Jonathan’s possible return should not be a concern for anyone, including President Tinubu. “Jonathan is not a threat at all. No one is scared of him. Certainly not the President,” he said.

Abdulaziz further advised the former president to be cautious of advisers who may mislead him into pursuing a contest he is unlikely to win. “I would urge him not to listen to those who might misguide him or create unrealistic expectations. The reality is that his chances of making a significant impact in the election are minimal,” he said.
