Senator Prince Adenigba Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District, which covers Ife and Ijesa land, has come under intense criticism following his decision to close Amotekun offices across the state on Saturday.

Akintunde Bello Sheriff, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Ademola Adeleke on the Bureau of Social Services (BOSS), expressed outrage in a post on his official Facebook page, describing the move as “an overreach” that threatens the state’s security architecture.

Sheriff questioned how the senator could shut down an entire security network over alleged misconduct by a few personnel. “If any security breaches occur, God forbids, anywhere in Osun State, how can Senator Fadahunsi, who ordered the closure of a complementary security structure, claim innocence?” he asked.

He also suggested that Senator Fadahunsi may be attempting to create an alternative framework to fill gaps previously covered by Amotekun. Sheriff emphasized that while erring personnel should face disciplinary action, the continued closure of Amotekun poses serious risks to the state’s safety.

“The senator should undo his closure order and not leave himself and his generations with an unprintable stain,” he added.

The controversy has ignited debates over political authority and security management in Osun East, with residents of Ife and Ijesa urging swift action to restore confidence in the state’s security structures.
