NELFUND Gives Tertiary Institutions 48 Hours to Verify Students for 2024/2025 Loans

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has ordered all tertiary institutions to complete verification of students for the 2024/2025 academic session within 48 hours.

NELFUND warned that failure to comply would result in exclusion from the current loan cycle, denying thousands of students access to much-needed financial support.

The Fund had earlier closed its application portal on September 30, 2025, but reopened it as a last opportunity for institutions to ensure all eligible students are captured and verified.

The portal will be accessible from 12:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 12, 2025, until 12:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.

“This extension is to ensure that all eligible students are duly verified by their institutions,” the Fund said, urging compliance.

NELFUND also announced that a list of non-compliant institutions would be published for transparency and accountability. Institutions failing to meet the deadline will forfeit participation in the loan cycle, to the detriment of their students.

In a statement signed by Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, Director of Strategic Communications, NELFUND reaffirmed its commitment to promoting equitable access to higher education through efficient management of the Nigerian Education Loan Scheme.
