Adeleke Lacks Governance Knowledge, Surrounded by Illiterates — Senator Fadahunsi
Says Osun Amotekun has lost purpose, now harbouring killers
Senator Orders Closure of Amotekun Offices
Senator Francis Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District, has confirmed that he ordered the sealing of Osun Amotekun operational bases in Osogbo and Ile-Ife, accusing the security outfit of deviating from its core mandate.
The lawmaker described the corps as having “lost its purpose,” alleging that it has now become a “home of murderers” terrorizing residents instead of protecting them.
Governor Accused of Incompetence
Fadahunsi took a swipe at Governor Ademola Adeleke, saying the governor lacks knowledge of governance and is surrounded by aides he described as “illiterate.” He alleged that the state government has mismanaged several chieftaincy matters by appointing individuals of “no integrity” to traditional positions without proper consultation.
Police Take Over Investigation
Patriotic Insights News gathered that operatives of the Intelligence Response Team from the Force Headquarters, Abuja, on Wednesday stormed the Amotekun offices in Oke-Fia, Osogbo, and Ile-Ife, arresting 20 personnel in connection with killings at Akinlalu community in Ife-North Local Government.
Residents had accused Amotekun operatives of killing four people in the area, while the Osun State Police Command disclosed that the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has taken over the case, with five suspects already in custody.
Senator Defends His Action
Fadahunsi defended his decision to back the sealing of the Amotekun offices, insisting it became necessary following repeated reports of killings allegedly linked to the corps.
“I am not acting out of political interest,” he said. “I can no longer remain silent while my people are being killed. From February till date, 12 people in my senatorial district have been allegedly killed by Amotekun personnel.”
‘No More Bloodshed in My District’
The Senator vowed to resist further attacks on residents, warning that such excesses would no longer be tolerated.
“They would not kill a single goat in my area again,” he declared. “If they are sent to destabilize my senatorial district, I will not allow it.”
Governor’s Spokesperson Unreachable
Efforts to reach Governor Adeleke’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, for comments were unsuccessful as calls to his phone went unanswered and messages were not returned as at press time.
