Trump Signals Ceasefire as Iran War Enters Day 21

United States President Donald Trump has signalled a possible ceasefire, hinting at a wind-down of military operations against Iran as the conflict enters its 21st day.

 

In a statement posted on his Truth Social account, Trump said the US and its allies were close to achieving their objectives in the Middle East.

 

He noted that the ongoing campaign had significantly weakened Iran’s military capabilities, including its missile systems, while also targeting key elements of its leadership structure.

 

“We are getting very close to meeting our objectives as we consider winding down our military efforts,” Trump stated.

 

The US president reiterated Washington’s commitment to defending regional allies, including Israel, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Kuwait.

 

He also emphasised the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz, suggesting it should be secured by nations that rely on it, with the US offering support if necessary.

 

Despite the signal of de-escalation, tensions remain high.

 

Iran’s Quds Force commander, Esmail Qaani, has vowed “more surprises” in continued attacks targeting the US, Israel, and their allies.

 

Meanwhile, a statement attributed to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, claimed victory over US and Israeli forces, describing the strikes as a “dizzying blow” to adversaries.

 

However, Trump insisted that Iran’s leadership structure had been effectively dismantled, declaring that its leaders are “all gone.”

 

The latest developments highlight a potential shift towards de-escalation, even as both sides continue to trade strong rhetoric and military threats.
