The All Progressives Congress (APC) has disqualified one of its governorship aspirants in Ekiti State, Engineer Kayode Ojo, from participating in the forthcoming party primary slated for October 27.
The development comes ahead of the 2026 Ekiti Governorship Election scheduled by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for July 20, 2026.
Announcing the decision in Abuja on Thursday, APC Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Duro Meseko, said the party’s screening committee cleared Governor Abiodun Oyebanji and Omolayo Oluremi to contest in the primary.
While Meseko did not disclose the specific reason for Ojo’s disqualification, party insiders hinted that it was linked to “issues bordering on documentation and eligibility criteria.”
Ojo, an engineer and former governorship aspirant, has been a familiar face in Ekiti politics and was widely considered one of the leading contenders for the party’s ticket.
The APC National Working Committee (NWC) appealed to aspirants and stakeholders to respect party decisions, maintain decorum, and uphold internal democracy as the party prepares for the primary.
Further details regarding the disqualification and appeal process are expected to emerge in the coming days.
