Ebenezer Obey Charges Graduates to Drive Positive Change Through Knowledge

Music icon, Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi, has urged Nigerian students to leverage their knowledge and skills to foster positive change and contribute meaningfully to national development.

Obey-Fabiyi gave the charge at the signing-out ceremony of 79 graduates from the sixth set of Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, held at the Ebenezer Obey Music and Life Skills Institute, Abeokuta Centre, on Saturday.

He called on the graduates to let their accomplishments reflect discipline, hard work, and service to humanity. According to him, the institute was established to empower young Nigerians, combining education with moral and life skills.

Also addressing the gathering, the Director of the Centre for Part-Time and Professional Studies at Al-Hikmah University, Dr. Lateef Mustapha, described the graduation as a celebration of resilience, creativity, and lifelong learning. He emphasized that higher education should extend beyond the classroom to include moral discipline, entrepreneurship, and community service. Mustapha reminded graduates that real success is measured by the positive impact they make in society, not just academic grades.

In a goodwill message, former Vice-Chancellor of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Professor Sabiru Adesanya, lauded the institute’s contribution to human capacity development and urged the graduates to remain worthy ambassadors of the centre.

Earlier, the Director of the Ebenezer Obey Music and Life Skills Institute, Mr. Adekunle Durosinmi, described the event as a milestone in the institute’s journey toward excellence. He noted that the growing number of graduates reflected the confidence students have in the centre’s academic and professional programmes, which blend moral values with practical skills. Durosinmi reaffirmed the management’s commitment to maintaining high standards and expanding opportunities for quality tertiary education and professional advancement.

The 79 graduates cut across the departments of Accounting, Computer Science, Business Administration, and Mass Communication.
