Tinubu Pledges Fair Treatment for Northern Christians, Vows to Tackle Farmer-Herder Clashes

President Bola Tinubu has reassured Christians in Nigeria’s northern region of his administration’s commitment to fairness, unity, and national cohesion.

The President made the remarks during a visit to Jos, Plateau State, where he also paid tribute to Nana Lydia Yilwatda, mother of the All Progressives Congress (APC) national chairman.

In a statement by his media aide, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu urged religious leaders to place confidence in his government, noting their shared responsibility in promoting peace and stability across the country.

Tinubu reiterated that his administration is determined to tackle insecurity, including terrorism, banditry, and farmer-herder conflicts.

“I have a mission to unite this country and ensure its prosperity. We are making progress. We are defeating bandits, and we will continue to do so. We will also address clashes between farmers and herders,” the President said.

He further stated that efforts to revive the economy and improve the welfare of Nigerians are ongoing.

Amos Mohzo, President and Spiritual Leader of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), thanked Tinubu for his support for northern Christians, pointing to key appointments such as George Akume as Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Nantawe Yilwatda as APC national chairman.

Mohzo appealed to the President to assist victims of conflict in Benue and facilitate the safe return of displaced Christian communities from insurgency-affected areas in Borno and Adamawa.
