Otti Govt Dismisses Alleged Sale of Healthcare Job Slots

The Abia State Government has debunked reports alleging that recruitment slots in the ongoing employment of healthcare workers were being sold.

In a statement yesterday, Chairman of the Civil Service Commission, Pastor Eno Jerry Eze, described the allegation as “baseless and unfounded,” stressing that the exercise was designed to be transparent and merit-driven.

According to him, the recruitment process — which includes applications, Computer-Based Tests (CBT), and interviews — was structured to eliminate bias and ensure only the most qualified candidates are selected.

“The Commission has implemented a robust recruitment process that integrates technology and global HR standards. At every stage, transparency, fairness and meritocracy are being upheld,” the statement read.

Pastor Eze assured that the final results, along with candidates’ documentation status, will be publicly released on the official recruitment portal to prevent manipulation.

He noted that the process had so far received commendation from applicants and stakeholders for raising the bar of integrity in public service employment.

The Commission urged residents to disregard the “false claims” and called on anyone with credible evidence of infractions to report such for investigation.

“We assure all stakeholders that any confirmed breach will attract decisive and appropriate action,” Eze added.

The Commission maintained that the exercise would produce a competent and professional healthcare workforce for the state in line with Governor Alex Otti’s reform agenda.
