Jonathan Must Beg Nigerians Before 2027, Adeleke’s Aide Warns

Akintunde Bello Sheriff, Senior Special Assistant on Bureau of Social Service to Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, has declared that former President Goodluck Jonathan must “seek forgiveness from Nigerians” before attempting a comeback in the 2027 presidential race.

In a blistering Facebook post, Bello Sheriff said the Tinubu administration’s swift reaction to speculations of Jonathan’s return already showed a presidency “rattled and afraid.”

He argued, however, that Jonathan faces a tougher challenge within the opposition, particularly from former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who, he said, has “worked himself out since 2023” in readiness for another presidential shot.

“For Peter Obi, Jonathan will inherit his support base naturally,” Bello Sheriff asserted, cautioning that the former president must still “begin earnest national consultation across all sections of Nigeria to appease the people.”

He accused Jonathan of “surrendering Nigeria without lawful resistance” in 2015, saying the move “paved the way for APC dominance and today’s hardship.”

“Jonathan went to bed playing decency when he could have rallied the opposition. He abandoned the PDP that gave him everything he became in life. Now that he wants reckoning again back to the office, our ex-president must first beg Nigerians and reach out to other contenders, especially Atiku Abubakar,” Bello Sheriff charged.

The statement, which quickly gained traction among political observers, was made in a Facebook post on Tuesday morning.
