ADC Warns Ex-Minister Against Misleading Tinubu on South-East Votes

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has warned former Minister of State for Science and Technology, Henry Ikechukwu Ikoh, to stop giving President Bola Tinubu a false impression about his chances of winning the South-East in the 2027 presidential election.

The warning follows a recent statement by Ikoh, who claimed that Tinubu would perform strongly in Abia State and other parts of the country in 2027. Ikoh, Coordinator of Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Abia, had dismissed Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe’s prediction that Tinubu would lose in the region, describing the senator’s remarks as “misleading and out of touch with reality.”

In a statement on Thursday, Rev. Dr. P.C. Okeiyi, ADC Publicity Secretary in Abia, criticised Ikoh for allegedly complicating the political space with “failed ideas and policies.”

“Ikoh has nothing to offer Abians, neither as a politician nor an industrialist. There are people who were settled with our state funds, and he is one of them. As a former commissioner, let him point out one thing Abians can remember him for,” Okeiyi said.

He further urged President Tinubu to disregard such claims, insisting that “Abia, and indeed the South-East, will not vote for APC or Tinubu.”

The spat has sparked strong reactions from political observers, highlighting the ongoing tensions in Nigeria’s political landscape as parties prepare for the 2027 elections.
