Atiku, Political Heavyweights Pay Courtesy Visit to New Olubadan of Ibadan
Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, on Tuesday led a high-profile delegation of friends and political associates on a congratulatory visit to the newly installed Olubadan of Ibadan, HRH Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja Arusa I.
In a post shared on his social media handles by his media office, Atiku stated:
“Earlier today, I led a delegation of friends and political associates to the ancient city of Ibadan on a congratulatory visit to HRH Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja Arusa I, the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland. My delegation included the former PDP National Chairman, Sen. Iyorchia Ayu, former Cross River State Governor, Mr. Liyel Imoke, former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, Mallam Adamu Maina Waziri, one-time Minister of Police Affairs, and Mallam Kashim Imam.”
The former Vice President expressed delight that Oba Ladoja personally recognized every member of the delegation, recalling their shared years in public service. “Indeed, His Royal Highness and all of us had shared decades of time of service to our dear nation. I am proud that Kabiyesi, a longstanding associate, has ascended the throne of his forebears,” the post added.
Atiku also regretted his absence at the historic coronation, citing protocol logistics, and thanked the people of Ibadan who turned out to receive the delegation. He prayed for a long reign of good health and vitality for Oba Ladoja that would usher in growth, prosperity, and peaceful Ibadanland.
The newly installed monarch, Oba Ladoja, pledged to serve his people justly, regardless of religious or political divides. The visit underscores the enduring respect political leaders maintain for Nigeria’s traditional rulers.
