Akume: Nigeria’s Woes Preceded Tinubu, Reforms Now in Motion
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, has cautioned Nigerians against blaming President Bola Tinubu for the country’s long-standing challenges, insisting that the nation’s problems did not begin with the current administration.
Speaking on Sunday during a special service marking Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day at the National Ecumenical Centre, Abuja, Akume said the Tinubu administration has initiated bold reforms to tackle the country’s economic and social issues.
“Each Nigerian has a role in building the Nigeria we all deserve,” Akume emphasized.
The former Governor of Benue State highlighted the President’s commitment to transforming the nation, citing the removal of fuel subsidies among other reforms as evidence of decisive action.
“The President needs the support of every Nigerian. What he is doing today could have been done 39 years ago. But I believe that at the end of the tunnel, there is light,” the SGF added.
Akume’s remarks come amid mounting public debates over the pace and direction of the Tinubu administration’s reforms, as Nigerians continue to grapple with economic pressures and insecurity.
