Sultan of Sokoto Visits Family of Late Awujale, Urges Prayers for Peace in Ijebuland
The Sultan of Sokoto and Chairman of the National Traditional Rulers Council of Nigeria, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, on Saturday paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.
The visit coincided with the Sultan’s attendance at the coronation of Rashidi Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadan. He was received by the heir of the royal family, Prince Saud Adedire Adetona.
Speaking during the visit, the Sultan called for continued prayers for the late monarch, stressing the importance of upholding unity and peace in Ijebuland.
“Let us continue to pray for him whenever we can, offering our daily prayers and remembering the contributions he left behind. May Almighty Allah forgive him and grant him Aljannat al-Firdaus,” the Sultan said.
He also advised the royal family and the people of Ijebuland to maintain harmony before, during, and after the selection of the new Awujale. “We believe that the family is the foundation of every community. I urge them to continue reaching out to one another and to all of us, so that peace prevails,” he added.
The Sultan further prayed for a successor who would surpass the achievements of the late Awujale, urging that the new monarch unite the entire community, the South West, and the nation.
