Aisida takes charge of Ondo PDP, declares party will rise again
Former Owo Local Government Chairman, Hon. Dupe Aisida, has been affirmed as the new Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State.
Aisida, a pioneer member of the PDP, took over from Chief Bakitta Bello, who completed the tenure of the late Hon. Fatai Adams.
Other executives elected alongside him include Chief Akin Oyewole (Deputy Chairman), Mr. Oluseye Olujimi (Secretary), Jolade Aladetan (Publicity Secretary) and Woke Akindiose (Legal Adviser).
In his acceptance speech, Aisida vowed to rebuild the party, unite its members and reposition it as a strong alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
He said:
“Our party has faced turbulence, sometimes from enemies outside and often from cracks within. Like the palm tree in the storm, the PDP has bent but it has never broken. We will rise again — stronger, wiser and more determined.”
Aisida assured members that his leadership would be anchored on discipline, inclusiveness and transparency. He also pledged to engage both founding fathers and the younger generation, while prioritising the mobilisation of women for future contests.
On the PDP’s role in the opposition, he declared that the party would hold the APC accountable “not with destructive criticism, but with constructive solutions to the problems facing the state and the nation.”
Appealing for unity, he urged members to put aside past divisions and work together to restore confidence and present the PDP as a credible alternative.
