President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has transmitted a letter to the Senate seeking the screening and confirmation of the recently appointed service chiefs.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio read the President’s correspondence on the floor during Tuesday’s plenary.
The nominees listed are: Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Olufemi Oluyede; Chief of Army Staff, Maj.-Gen. Waheedi Shaibu; Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Idi Abbas; Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Kennedy Aneke; and Chief of Defence Intelligence, Maj.-Gen. Emmanuel Undiendeye.
Akpabio thereafter referred the nominees to the Committee of the Whole for screening and confirmation next week.
Tinubu had met with the appointees on Monday behind closed doors at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
