Tinubu Celebrates Bishop Oyedepo at 71, Hails Impact on Nation’s Spiritual and Educational Growth
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday congratulated Bishop David Oyedepo, founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, on his 71st birthday, describing him as a “towering figure of influence” in Nigeria, Africa, and beyond.
In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President praised Oyedepo’s decades of contributions to spiritual life, education, and philanthropy. Tinubu highlighted the Bishop’s discipline and diligence since establishing the ministry in 1982, noting how these qualities facilitated the global expansion of Living Faith Church Worldwide and investments in infrastructure, health, and education.
“Oyedepo’s Kingdom Heritage Schools, Faith Academy, and the universities he founded—Covenant and Landmark—continue to set high standards of education, competing favorably with other global institutions,” the President said.
He further commended Oyedepo for building one of Africa’s most influential Christian ministries from humble beginnings and for fostering ministries that impact key sectors of the economy. “Your contributions to nation-building through preaching, teaching, and service remain deeply appreciated. You are a pacesetter and a symbol of servant leadership for many to emulate,” Tinubu added.
Bishop Oyedepo, who established Living Faith Church Worldwide in 1981 with headquarters at Faith Tabernacle in Ota, Ogun State, is widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s most influential Christian leaders.
