Nationwide Enforcement of Tinted Glass Permits Begins October 2 — Police

The Nigeria Police Force has announced that enforcement of tinted glass permits will commence nationwide on October 2, 2025.

The directive was disclosed by the Jigawa State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam, in a statement made available to journalists on Saturday in Dutse, the state capital.

According to SP Adam, online registration and application for the permits are ongoing. He urged members of the public to visit possap.gov.ng and carefully follow the stepwise registration process to ensure smooth application.

“Applicants must create an account using their NIN, BVN, or TIN, verify it via email, then log in to select the Tinted Glass Permit service. They should upload their vehicle details and all supporting documents. All information must be accurate before submission and payment for quick processing,” he said.

SP Adam added that after online application, vehicle inspection and fingerprint biometric capturing would be scheduled at designated Nigeria Police Force Intelligence Departments. For Jigawa residents, biometric capturing will be free of charge at the State Intelligence Department, Police Headquarters, Dutse.

He also warned motorists against patronising unauthorised agents attempting to exploit the permit process. “This initiative promotes transparency and ensures road safety for all,” SP Adam emphasised, calling for public cooperation to guarantee smooth enforcement and safer roads nationwide.

Motorists planning to apply were advised to begin registration promptly ahead of the enforcement date to avoid last-minute delays.

The directive is aimed at curbing illegal window tinting, enhancing road safety, and ensuring compliance with federal regulations.
