APC Forum: Opposition Ties Threaten 2027 Chances
The North-Central All Progressives Congress (APC) Forum has cautioned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu against openly embracing opposition governors, warning that such moves could dampen the morale of party faithful and weaken the APC’s chances in the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued in Abuja yesterday, the Forum noted that members of the ruling party in states under opposition control had continued to complain of harassment and intimidation, even as their leaders fraternise with the Presidency.
Although the Forum did not name the governors or provide specific evidence to support the claims, it said the concerns reflected the mood of grassroots members who feel abandoned.
It, therefore, urged the Presidency and the national leadership of the APC to prioritise strengthening party structures nationwide and ensure that members are protected in the political process.
The Forum stressed that unity, loyalty, and internal cohesion remained critical if the APC must retain power beyond 2027.
“The task before us is not to wine and dine with our rivals but to consolidate the gains of the party and give every member a sense of belonging,” the Forum stated.
