FCTA Mandate Secretary Enrolls Children in Public School, Hails Sector Reforms
Dr. Danlami Hayyo, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) Mandate Secretary for Education, has enrolled his two children in Government Science Secondary School, Pyakasa, Maitama, for the 2025/2026 academic session, citing the improved quality of FCT public schools as his motivation.
Speaking shortly after the enrolment exercise, Hayyo praised the transformative leadership of the Minister of the FCT, Barr. Nyesom Wike, noting that “public schools in the FCT have become institutions of choice under the Minister’s visionary reforms.”
He highlighted the extensive infrastructural upgrades, school restorations, and modern facilities introduced across the territory, emphasizing that students now learn in safe, conducive, and inspiring environments.
“The provision of laptops, tablets, and innovative backpacks has integrated technology into classrooms, equipping students with the skills, moral values, and mindset required to thrive in the 21st century,” Hayyo said.
He further commended the FCT Education Secretariat for its dedication to recruiting qualified, ethically sound teachers and for closely monitoring teaching and learning processes to ensure adherence to standards.
Hayyo encouraged parents and guardians to enrol their children in FCT schools to benefit from the affordable, accessible, and high-quality learning environment, urging them not to be swayed by critics.
He also noted the consistent academic excellence of FCT students, who have earned recognition both nationally and internationally, including recent competitions in South Africa, the Netherlands, and Switzerland.
“FCT public schools are not only affordable and accessible but also continue to produce disciplined students who excel in academics and extracurricular pursuits,” he said.
