Niger State Allocates N5bn to Revive Aviation College Campus in Minna
The Niger State Government has pledged N5 billion to rehabilitate the mini campus of the Nigerian College of Aviation at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport, Minna. The initiative aims to reduce the financial burden on students who currently travel abroad for aviation-related courses.
Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago made the pledge during a courtesy visit by the college’s management to the state capital. He stated that the fund would be directed towards the construction of classrooms and hostels to strengthen the campus infrastructure.
“The state government intends to transform the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport into a hub for both aviation and agriculture, promoting economic growth and development,” the governor said.
Dr Danjuma Adamu Ismail, Rector of the Nigerian College of Aviation, Zaria, commended the governor for upgrading the airport to world-class standards. He highlighted the college’s long-standing partnership with Niger State and noted that reviving the Minna campus would enhance training and expertise in agro-aviation.
Established in 1964, the Nigerian College of Aviation now comprises six schools, including Flight, Air Traffic Control, Aeronautical Telecommunications Engineering, Airport Emergency and Training, and Aircraft Aviation Management.
During the visit, the delegation also inspected the aviation fuel depot and housing units at the airport, which Governor Bago had earlier earmarked for demolition to make way for improved facilities.
