DSS Slams Sowore With Five-Count Charge Over Tinubu Remarks
Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Mr. Omoyele Sowore, has disclosed that the Department of State Services (DSS) has filed a five-count charge against him at the Federal High Court, Abuja.
Sowore, who revealed this yesterday via his social media handle, said the charges arose from his recent comments describing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a “criminal.”
According to him, the DSS claimed his remarks amounted to a set of “novel offences” spread across the five counts.
“The State Security Service, alias @OfficialDSSNG, today filed a five-count charge at the Federal High Court in Abuja against ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), Facebook, and myself. They claimed that because I called Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu a criminal, I have somehow committed a set of offences they invented,” he stated.
The activist expressed surprise at what he described as the misuse of institutions meant to serve the country, but maintained that he was ready to face trial.
“It’s hard to believe there’s anyone sensible left in these offices that should be making Nigeria work. Regardless, I will be present whenever this case is assigned for trial,” he added.
Sowore insisted that he remains committed to defending his right to free expression, noting that no amount of intimidation would silence him.
