Fadahunsi Seeks Probe Into Osun Registration Violence

Senator Adenigba Fadahunsi (Osun East) has condemned the violent attacks that marred voter registration in Ilesa and Ikirun, seeking a thorough investigation into the incident.

The lawmaker, in a statement through his aide, Sam Segun-Progress, described the attacks as “barbaric and uncalled for,” urging security agencies to safeguard citizens and bring the perpetrators to justice.

“The aggression some politicians are introducing into the registration process must be nipped in the bud. We should be encouraging more people to register, not scaring them away with thuggery,” Fadahunsi said.

The clash sparked heated exchanges between the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The APC alleged that suspected PDP thugs stormed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Ikirun, attacking its Ward 1 Councillor, Taiwo Kazeem, and another member, Oladimeji Olamilekan, with an axe.

APC spokesperson, Kola Olabisi, said the victims would have been killed but for the swift intervention of residents. He identified a group called One Million Gang and one Hassan as those behind the attack, urging the police to act decisively.

But the PDP dismissed the allegations, accusing the APC of instigating violence and hiding under security agencies. Its spokesperson, Oladele Bamiji, warned the police against being compromised, insisting that “any attempt to compromise neutrality will push Osun to the brink.”

Meanwhile, despite the disruptions, Osun topped the national chart in the online phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), recording 393,269 new registrations ahead of the August 8, 2026 governorship election.
