• Says Southern Kaduna Will Benefit More Under APC Government

Rep. Daniel Amos, who represents Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency of Kaduna State, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Amos, who chairs the House Committee on Services, announced his defection on Friday in Kafanchan shortly after submitting his resignation letter to the PDP.

He said his decision was informed by the need to align with the Federal Government to attract more development to his constituency.

According to him, President Bola Tinubu has demonstrated genuine leadership and inclusiveness by approving key federal institutions for Southern Kaduna.

“President Tinubu has shown that he is a leader who recognises and values our people. His establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia and the Federal Medical Centre in Kafanchan made our decision an easy one,” he said.

Amos explained that the move to the APC followed wide consultations with his constituents, adding that internal wrangling within the PDP also influenced his decision.

“We have carefully studied the crisis within the PDP and concluded that it is in the best interest of our people to find an alternative platform. We consulted widely, and our people agreed that the APC is the best vehicle to deliver dividends of democracy to them,” he said.

He added that his defection was both a strategic and divine step.
“I believe that what we are doing is not only timely but divinely inspired. One day, our people will thank God for this decision,” Amos stated.

The lawmaker also confirmed that assurances were given that his constituency would receive fair consideration at both state and federal levels.

He reaffirmed his commitment to prioritising the welfare and interests of his constituents above partisan politics.

Amos and other prominent PDP members from Southern Kaduna are expected to be formally received into the APC on Saturday in Kafanchan by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas.
