Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, on Tuesday, made a return to plenary following the expiration of her six-month suspension from the Senate.

Akpoti-Uduaghan arrived at the chamber during the Senate’s resumption session, where Senate President Godswill Akpabio was delivering his welcome address.

Her entrance drew attention as several colleagues, including Senators Abdul Ningi (PDP–Bauchi), Ali Ndume (APC–Borno), and Aminu Tambuwal (PDP–Sokoto), exchanged pleasantries with her.

The lawmaker’s suspension, which took effect in March, stemmed from alleged misconduct related to her protest over the reassignment of her seat in the chamber.

Akpoti-Uduaghan, who had earlier challenged her suspension, insisted she owed no apology to the Senate leadership, maintaining that her actions were in defence of legislative fairness and due process.

Her return marks the end of months of political tension surrounding the matter, which had drawn reactions from both her supporters and critics within the upper chamber.
