NITT to Host Summit on Transport, Logistics Reform
The Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT), Zaria, has unveiled plans to convene a national summit to reposition the country’s transport and logistics sector for greater efficiency, innovation and sustainability.
Speaking to journalists in Zaria, Kaduna State, on Tuesday, the Director of the Transport Technology Centre, Dr Joshua Odeleye, who represented the Director-General of NITT, Dr Bayero Salih Farah, said the summit would provide a platform for robust dialogue on the future of Nigeria’s transport system.
Tagged the Nigeria Transport and Logistics Leadership Summit 2025 (NTLLS 2025), the event will hold on October 14, 2025, at the Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja. The theme is “Building Sustainable Transport and Logistics Infrastructure in Nigeria: Current Trends and Future Insights.”
According to Odeleye, participants will include policymakers, regulators, operators, academics and industry leaders across road, rail, maritime, aviation, logistics and allied sectors. The programme will feature keynote addresses, panel sessions, technical presentations and networking opportunities.
“This summit is designed to stimulate dialogue and action that will shape the future of transport and logistics in Nigeria. By bringing stakeholders together, we aim to promote efficiency, innovation and sustainability across the entire ecosystem,” he said.
He added that the summit would also serve as a platform for investment partnerships, knowledge sharing and policy alignment, stressing that Nigeria’s transport sector is at a crossroads.
“The choice before us is either to continue with business as usual or to embrace transformative changes that can unlock growth and improve the quality of life for millions of Nigerians,” he said.
A major highlight of the programme will be the Nigeria Transport and Logistics Leadership Awards (NTLLS 2025), which will recognise individuals and organisations that have demonstrated outstanding leadership, innovation and impact in advancing the sector.
International partners, investors and research institutions are also expected to attend, offering comparative insights from other economies.
Established in 1986, NITT is Nigeria’s apex transport research and capacity-building institution with a mandate to provide training, research and consultancy services. The Institute has conducted studies on traffic management, transport safety, freight logistics and emerging technologies.
Observers say the forthcoming summit signals NITT’s intention to play a more strategic role in shaping policy directions and attracting investments into the sector.
