DSS Summons Malami Over Kebbi Political Clash, Group Applauds Agency’s Action
The North-West Progressive Mandate Frontiers has praised the Department of State Services (DSS) for summoning former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, following recent political unrest in Kebbi State.
Malami had revealed on his Facebook page that he was called in by the DSS after a violent clash occurred between his convoy and supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Birnin Kebbi. He alleged that the petition prompting his invitation was driven by “opposition high-profile political elements” in the state.
Reacting to the development, the group’s spokesman, Armayau Kabir Koko, described the DSS action as a demonstration of its “commitment to transparency, fairness, and the rule of law in addressing issues that threaten peace and democratic stability.”
Koko stressed that, “No individual, regardless of status or influence, should be above accountability when the unity and progress of our nation are at stake.”
The group reiterated its support for all lawful and constitutional measures aimed at safeguarding peace, stability, and democratic values in Kebbi State and the broader North-West region.
Malami confirmed that he honoured the DSS invitation concerning the attack on his convoy in Kebbi.
