Osun Rolls Out Free Imole Wi-Fi to Bridge Digital Divide

In a major push to expand digital access, the Osun State Government has launched Imole Wi-Fi, a free public internet service aimed at residents, students, and businesses across the state.

The rollout was announced by Kolapo Alimi, the State Commissioner for Information and Enlightenment, who described the initiative as a strategic move to enhance access to information and unlock opportunities across education, health, agriculture, and commerce.

The first phase of the project targets government buildings and key institutions, including the Osun State Library, Alphastart Hub, Osun Mall, Salvation Army Middle School, Osogbo Grammar School, and facilities under the Ministry of Innovation, Science, Technology, and Digital Economy.

Governor Ademola Adeleke hailed the project as “transformative,” stating, “Imole Wi-Fi is a gateway to opportunity. With this public digital infrastructure, we are cutting barriers, connecting people, and driving growth across every sector of Osun’s economy.”

Azeez Badmus, Special Adviser on the project, confirmed that the current rollout is only the first phase. He added, “As we expand Imole Wi-Fi, more government services and sector-specific tools will be accessible to residents, ensuring that everyone benefits from Osun’s digital future.”

The government assured that the service would gradually cover more locations, promising broader digital inclusion and easier access to online services for all citizens.
