The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has dismissed as fake a viral press release claiming that its 2026 recruitment exercise has been postponed.

In a notice posted on its official X account on Sunday, the board labelled the circulating document with a bold “FAKE” watermark and urged prospective applicants and the public to disregard it.

The forged statement falsely claimed that the recruitment exercise had been postponed due to administrative reasons and advised applicants to wait until November 2026 for further information.

It also warned applicants against paying money to individuals or groups promising early access to the recruitment process while directing them to the board’s recruitment portal.

However, CDCFIB clarified that the document did not originate from the board.

The clarification comes a week after the board released the names of successful candidates who participated in the November 2025 Computer-Based Test (CBT) for recruitment.

According to the board, successful applicants will proceed to the next stage of the exercise, with medical screening scheduled to begin on June 22, 2026.

The recruitment exercise covers the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), and the Federal Fire Service (FFS).
