Mr Lere Olayinka, media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has reacted to Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara’s withdrawal from the All Progressives Congress governorship primary.

Fubara had on Wednesday night announced his decision to step down from the contest, saying the move was made in the interest of peace in Rivers State.

The governor maintained that his withdrawal was not out of fear or weakness.

Reacting in a series of posts on his Facebook page, Olayinka mocked the governor’s decision and questioned his current political strength.

According to him, Fubara no longer has political allies contesting for Senate, House of Representatives or State Assembly positions.

He also claimed that no local government chairman or councillor currently aligns with the Rivers governor.

Olayinka suggested that FCT Minister Nyesom Wike now controls the political structure in the state.

“Totally and completely isolated politically. Yet, he is still saying he didn’t step aside out of weakness, fear or surrender,” Olayinka wrote.

The media aide also shared an old video clip which allegedly showed Fubara making remarks against Wike during a previous political disagreement.

The video reportedly captured the governor comparing Wike’s public outbursts to “a barking dog.”

The political rift between Wike and Fubara has continued to shape Rivers State politics following months of tension between both camps.
