The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has alleged that the re-election bid of Governor Ademola Adeleke is facing internal disquiet and declining support, claiming that the party’s governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), is gaining widespread acceptance across the state ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the APC also alleged that the governor’s re-election campaign structure was experiencing disaffection among some members, citing claims of internal grievances, leadership concerns, and alleged concentration of influence within the governor’s immediate circle.

According to the party, a source said to be within the governor’s campaign committee, who spoke anonymously, claimed that dissatisfaction within the camp was linked to alleged marginalisation of some party stakeholders and concerns over the handling of appointments and contracts.

The APC further alleged that some stakeholders within the ruling structure were uncomfortable with what it described as “over-centralisation of political and administrative influence,” while also accusing unnamed actors of prioritising projects in certain locations over others in the state.

It also raised concerns over what it described as rising political tensions in the campaign environment, alleging instances of intimidation and attacks on its supporters, including the destruction of campaign materials. The party warned against what it termed the introduction of violence into the electoral process.

The statement also referenced political realignments within the opposition space, claiming that recent defections of some prominent political figures to the APC had strengthened its structure ahead of the election.

Commenting on the development, the APC Director of Media and Information in Osun State, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, signed the statement, said:

“AMBO’s soaring popularity has unsettled the Adeleke-led camp, creating jitters within their re-election structure. What we are witnessing is a government struggling with internal confidence and growing public dissatisfaction. The opposition movement in Osun is now stronger, more organised, and widely accepted across communities in the state.”

The APC insisted that the political climate in Osun ahead of the 2026 governorship election was shifting in its favour, adding that it would continue to mobilise support across all local government areas in the state.

The ruling camp has yet to officially respond to the claims at the time of filing this report.
